Writing Creative Stories

The Children’s Visualisation is available on request. 

 

  1. Get the children very comfortable. Lying on a carpeted floor is the best.
  2. Ask them to close their eyes & listen to the “Animal of Your Heart” Children’s visualisation. 
  3. At the end gently bring their attention back to the classroom. 
  4. Ask them to get up and jump and shake the energy back into their bodies. 
  5. The teacher tells the students what animal s/he found and then writes it on the board. “The Animal of My       Heart is a ….”
  6. Reassure any child who didn’t see an animal that they can copy yours. 
  7. Then the teacher asks what animals the children found. 
  8. They are then asked to write down the name of their animal. “The Animal of My Heart is….”
  9. The teacher then tells the students what the Animal of her/his Heart asked them to do. S/he writes it on the board. “The Animal of My Heart asked me to ….”
  10. Then the teacher asks the students to write down what the Animal of their Heart asked them to do. 
  11. The teacher then tells the students what games s/he played with the Animal of Their Heart. “We….”   
  12. The teacher then asks the students to write down the games they played with the Animal of their Hearts.  
  13. The teacher then describes the Animal of their Heart’s Heartbeat.  
  14. The teacher then asks the children to describe the sound of the Animal of their Heart’s Heartbeat.
  15. This then becomes the beginning of their stories. 
  16.  Encourage the children to return to the Animal of Their Heart to inspire the rest of their story. 
  17. This can become an excellent way to encourage Independent Learning.
